Halloween is a fun time of year around our house. First off who doesn't like to play dress up? Well, okay, a lot of people don't, BUT those that do have a lot of fun! Secondly, my husband is a Halloween baby. All in all this means, cake, costumes, candy, parties, trick-or-treating...fun.
The reason that this post is called
Cauldron Crafts is because of some lovely ladies from
Fabric Donkey . For the month of September you can find
Cauldron Crafts, a month of Halloween crafting on their blog. A little bonus is that they are running a fabric giveaway. To win, you have to post about
Cauldron Crafts (really check it out, there are some cute things, I like the
Mummy pillow).
My Halloween craft is from a couple years ago.
Halloween Petit Fours that I made for my husband.
Every guy dreams of petit fours right?
Okay, they do not, but he is a good sport and enjoyed his cake(s).
The spiders and ghosts were made ahead of time with
Royal icing. I used techniques from
Wilton. For the cake I baked a large square/rectangle cake and cut it in to small squares. I covered half of the squares with chocolate ganache and the other half with white chocolate ganache with orange food colouring. They were a lot of fun.
If you are not in to petit fours, you can do the same thing on cupcakes, like I did here. The kids took these ones to school.
The cupcakes were a yummy pumpkin cake recipe, unfortunately I forget the recipe I used.
Stay tuned for more Halloween updates as we approach October 31. Happy Halloween Crafting!
