Halloween 2011 Episode 3

My husband and I were attending a Halloween Party on the weekend, so we had an excuse to get new costumes this year.  I struggled with ideas.  I like my costume to be economical and not thrown together (although I have done this in a pinch).  My kids don't like to see us dress scary and they really don't like to see us dress gory.  I cannot dress in an adult themed costume because that is something I am not willing to explain to the kids, so I was left searching for ideas.  Finally, I stumbled across Dora and Boots and went with it.

My favourite part of the costume was backpack.  I made the eyes and mouth in black, then cut the white of the eyes and the red of the mouth smaller.  They are fused together with fusible interfacing then stitched down.  I couldn't find a pattern, so I just winged it.  My son drew maps face and coloured it for me.  He did a great job!  I love it.  I hope my kids will play with it after Halloween.

Halloween 2011 Episode 2

As promised, here is the next exciting episode of Halloween 2011!  I am not sure taking on the task of completing six handmade costumes was a great idea, but it is happening.  My boys are werewolves, Teen Wolf style.

Halloween 2011 Episode 1

Two of six costumes are complete.  My girls are ready, my boys are planned, mine and my husbands are still unplanned.

My oldest daughter wanted to be a witch this year and I saw a fantastic pattern online that I thought would be perfect, but it was $32.  Not for me.  I decided that I should be able to recreate it on my own.  She loves it and  is happily wearing it as I type this up.  I did find a few witch hat tutorials online and combined the ideas to come up with her hat.  I almost bought one, I am glad I went with making it instead.

Flannel Baby Blanket

There are many special people in my life and now and then it works out that I can offer a little something of myself to them.  That is why I made this baby blanket for a gift.

Hexagon Charm Quilt - 386

Time for another Hexagon Quilt update!  They are actually a lot of fun to make.  I can grab a small bag of supplies and do about 20 in half of my lunch hour at work.  Then grab a few minutes here and there at other times.  I am sure that piecing them will be a little more challenging, but I am up for it.

You will have to forgive me, I am not good in front of the camera and the wind made it extra challenging.  However, my husband is a great sport and found this location for us to do an impromptu photo shoot and took many pictures so that I can share my project with you.
