WIP Wednesday - My First

While I peruse other blogs I have often seen WIP Wednesday.  I like the idea of linking up with a group of people, but I never really had works-in-progress.  Until now, and are they ever building up!

Pillows
Last year at this time I decided I really wanted to start quilting, but was afraid to jump in with two feet, so I started small.  I set out to make Christmas Tree Pillows inspired by this quilt.  After making two, I decided to add some variation and found a great Peppermint Candy Pillow here.  My completed pillows were gifted,  however, I was left with my own works-in-progress.

Looking at the Peppermint Candy Pillow, I realize I photographed it all wrong, but you get the idea, project partially cut, waiting for some attention!

Quilts
I took a venture into the quilting world as well.  Let me start by saying that I have made a few whole fabric baby quilts.  Each time I curse struggle through the quilting, but love the end.  I got adventurous and pieced some tops for a couple and my quilting got better.  Through it all, my love for quilting has grown.  Unfortunately my ideas have grown faster than my time!  I have a few works-in-progress.
  • The first one is not pictured, it is a rag quilt.  I started this last year as well.  I am about 60% done.
  • My most important quilt at the moment has been mentioned a few times on my blog, here is my sneak peak I posted about too long ago.  I really hope to find my motivation for this one, a kick in the behind would be great!

  • This one will be for my oldest son, Plain Spoken made with Kona Cotton Solids, Denim.  I will be keeping the quilting simple on this one, which should help me complete it more timely.

  • Christmas Wall Hanging!  I am super excited about this one, I am in love with Kate Spain's Flurry and will be using it to make a quilt for my home.  I do not expect to finish it before Christmas 2011, but could not resist starting.  Here is block number 1!

  • Finally my Hexie Quilt.  I love it.  I feel guilty because I think about this one all the time.  I don't dedicate a lot of time to it, but instead steal a moment whenever I can.  I have pieced a few more hexies since this picture was taken and changed my design plan a little so will need to make more than the original 1,173 hexies.  I will update as I make more progress.

Other
Oh, yes there are others in my sites, but nothing has actually been cut and/or bought.

  12. Oooo....a Prince Charming quilt! Also, I'm terrified of starting anything hexie oriented...because I'll either become obsessed or peter out.

  13. That's a lot of hexies! But it's great with 'portable' projects. I even took mine outside the house a few times where I could see I would have a chance to sew a little. My boys of course thought it was sooo embarissing when I started stiching at their basketball training...
