Starburst Quilt

In May of 2013 I won fabric!  Better off Thread was generous enough to ship me her beautiful scraps of Anna Maria Horner - Little Folks voile.

And I did it!  I made a quilt with it!  It may have taken almost two years, but it is done, and I am so happy!

This will be a wall quilt.  I have three quilts that I alternate on my wall, changing with the season/holiday and this one will now join their ranks.

I chose to practice different quilting techniques on this one.  I used matching thread, so it does not stand out on the front, and did a combination of free motion and straight line quilting.  I love the way a quilt looks when it is densely quilted.

Below is a picture of the back (because it will be hung on the wall, I did not worry about what fabric was on the back).  It is still hard to make out the detail in this picture, but you can tell it is there.

I am very happy that I finally dug my heels in and completed this project.  Time to enjoy!!

I am linking up with A Lovely Year of Finishes - January Finishes at Sew Bittersweet Designs.  I joined in at the beginning of the month from my Flickr Album.

  1. Beautiful quilting. It's fun to just go for it no? Next time you should use a solid on the back so it will really show off your work! :-)
